Body Positivity Series

Body positivity is a really important thing for both men and women. It's 2014 going on 2015 and I think it's about time people embrace their natural features and loved what they have instead of comparing to celebs, models or even TV personality's.  It's very easy to say 'love your self for who you are' but when kids or even adults now have grown up being put down because of their looks it's hard to suddenly change your perspective. I've never been the most girlest of girls, being a proper tom boy when I was younger with hand -me- downs from my brother, the shortest haircut in history and absolutely no interest in dresses (even for my Communion) I was teased quite a bit for being 'odd'. I always remember one girl saying I wore a wig because my hair was so awful. The saying 'kids can be hurtful' is no excuse and its these kids that should be thought from the beginning to be positive about their body's and never pick on someone else. Moving into secondary school is a big change for anyone and its now that body posivitiy is most challenging. For me I was lucky and found a group of friends who cared about personality over appearance and from then on without the pressure of worrying what others thought I had time to find myself, the real me, the one who has always been underneath but never got to show because of others. I think body positivity is about exactly that.. being you, always. Never let anyone change that. Getting down with the kids here, but YOLO, its your life you need to live it to your fullest and most importantly.. be happy. One of the first steps to achieving that is to be happy in your own skin. I think body positivity is at a high right now in the blogging world and other forms of media. Plus size models are taking over and I think that's the way it should be, only thing I would change is calling them 'plus sized'. Their regular people the people who we actually look up to and their the ones advertising the clothes we would actually wear. I say out with the old ways of having to be a size 6 and in with current beautiful people who can inspire anyone to be whatever they want to be.
So there ya have it my thoughts on Body posivitiy, I would give anything to know I changed one persons perspective on themselves. You can not let anyone tell you your not beautiful, your on this earth because your beautiful, everyone is in their own unique way and that's the way it should be.
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment".

This is my favorite photo of myself because I didn't think twice about what people would think when I got my side shave, I wanted it because its the style I love and I'm glad I did it because it's made me very happy and confident in my own skin.
Look out world there's a lot of body positive people on their way.
