Bringing Books Back

After seeing a great post from a friend on Facebook about bringing books back I knew I had to get on board. The idea is to send your favorite book to a random address which you get through a PM and then yours is passed on, it explains itself in the post below.

"Attention book lovers!
We need six people to participate in a book exchange (but it can be more). You can be anywhere in the world. The further we get the better.
All you have to do is buy your favourite book and send it to a stranger (you'll get their details through PM). You will receive approximately 36 books back (for your personal collection) to keep - they'll be favourite novels from strangers around the world, which is pretty cool.
If you are interested in taking part, just like this status and I will PM you all the details!

I of course sent my copy of Glass Houses which is the first in the Morganville Series which lucky enough I happen to have two of and I sent it with a little note explaining the series and why I think they will love it along with an apology about now having to spend the summer hooked to this amazing series.. I'm so excited to see what this leads to and at least I know someone out there is getting a fantastic book.

Jar of Notes

As with my last post this is another little gift I'm leaving my boyfriend as I go on my internship away for four months. I think a jar of notes is a brilliant idea especially for a situation like this where the person your giving it to has something to smile about everyday and also a count down to when they see you next. I did a selection of notes based on Moments & Memories, Quotes, Reasons I love you and Lyrics in different colours so he would be able to choose which he wanted each day. Below are a few examples of what i put in

Open when...

As I leave for the summer to do an internship one of the hardest thing is not going to be able to see my boyfriend so I am leaving him with some Open When envelopes when he's feeling lonely or
 needs cheering up.

Just a little note telling him how much I love home as I leave for four months and won't be seeing him.

A nice little Pinterest idea is to send a hug which I did by tracing my (abnormally-shaped) hands and joined them with a long piece of string to allow them to basically give themseleves a hug using your hands. I think adding the little touch with the lines and fingernails makes it a bit more realistic, and my brilliant drawing of us hugging (yes that is me on a chair, hes over 6ft im 5ft need I say more).

All girls know when they get their boyfriends hoodie the best thing about it is it smells like him so I made this little heart out of scrap fabric in a neutral manly colour and sprayed/dosed it in my favorite perfume which hopefully will remind him of me.

On days when he's needing a laugh I sent a selection of funny pictures including him looking dopey and out French exchange flatmate jumping in the Irish Sea.. in February.

Down days are something we all have and I wanted to be able to cheer him up while I'm away so I left a note of some of our best times together to make him smile.

This has got to be my favorite envelope as its a selection of pictures of all the things we've done and a list of things we will do one day.

College comes to a close

Anyone who knows me knows how hard it was for me to start college in the first place but now as I have two weeks left I'm struggling to come to terms with leaving. I got so caught up in college life from struggling down to class in the morning, to the fun nights out, meeting neighbors and just growing up, having my own place, looking after myself its been so incredible.
Leaving behind the people I've met over the year is whats going to be the hardest, my course mate who was practically joined to my hip as we lived beside each other, went to class together and spent all our free time together, my flatmate who was like the mammy figure of the house who I had our girly gossips with in the evening and my neighbors who became like a little family as we spent every evening in one of our houses watching crap TV and having takeaways.
So much has happened in these 8 months, I've gained confidence and experiences that I will never forget and it truly was one of the best things I have done. All I can do is remember the amazing times and look forward to whats to come.

MY COLLEGE BEST BITS
  • Meeting my flatmate, absoutly hammered and having to but her to bed.
  • Freshers week, what a mad way to experience college nights
  • Trip to the ploughing championships... where I had to get off an hour into the journey after staying up the night before to be up at 6am for the bus and now suffering from travel sickness.
  • Schoolgirl dress up night... why why did I do this
  • Trip to the beach, and showing the french exchange student how to spend his last day i.e in the sea in Ireland followed by pints of Guinness.
  • Rag Week.... need I say more.
  • Coming back from college and spending the morning watching Hawaii fiveO.
  • Going between my house and my neighbours like we're one big family.
