Blogtober Day 20: Gap Year Adventures Day at the National Animal Centre

Volunteering with the ISPCA makes my day every time I go there. I wanted to tell you guys about  my day today because it was the busiest I have been and the most unusual too. I was on the Cattery today which also includes looking after the small mammals and the puppies that stay in the cattery. Being at the NAC for three months I've shown the staff how interested I am in helping so they give me amazing tasks which is great experience for my future working with animals and also just the best ever because although you don't like to see the animals sick, it is lovely to look after them and give them some TLC. Today I was left to clean all the poorly kittens eyes and ears then give them drops in both. It mightnd sound pleasant but I loved getting the hands on experience with them and boy they did love getting spruced up, something I learn't was if a kitten/cat looks dirty you know they are unwell because they aren't able to clean themselves.
Next on to the puppppppies. Three weeks ago Willow, a dog brought in to the NAC, gave birth and I can tell you they are the cutest. Jessie a fantastic foster mum and Amelia a little puppy are residents in the cattery right now. There also three six week old foster puppies in cattery Madison, Sebastian and.. sugar I can't remember the other one's name.. so many puppies + cats, so many names. I had to get hot water bottles ready and do up food soaked with warm water for these spoilt little puppies.
Monday is weighing day and every dog there has to be weighed so after the fun of getting the puppies to stay on the scale, we went and helped the other staff who were on kennels to weigh all of those dogs.
Just before finishing for the day a gorgeous little hedgehog came in. He had falling down a drain and became dehydrated. After setting up his bed with an infra red lamp, some cat food and lots of towels we left him to recover for the night.

Volunteering is an amazing way to spend a Gap Year weather its abroad or at home there is a wide range of organisations and charity's who depend on volunteers.

Blogtober day 19: " I got the music in me"

I am hugely into a lot of different genres of music. I don't know what it is but when music comes on I have to turn it up and sing along, there's no point of having music on a low volume it's got to be turned up right ? Weather its pop, hip-hop or even country it wins me round once I've listened to it at least twice. Thanks to the amazing American series Nashville I really have gotten into country music, its just so darn catchy and upbeat. Growing up with an older brother in the 90's I also have a love for some of the old classics, you have to listen to what your older siblings are because you gotta be cool too.  Some of my favorite movies are based around music, Grease, Hairspray and Pitch Perfect just to name a few.
Although I want to more than anything, I've never actually learn't to play an instrument, except for the tin whistle in primary school, don't think that really counts and also the guitar in TY but it was about 8 lessons so I'm deffo not the next Jimi Hendrix.
There's a long list of musical instruments on my bucket list I would love to learn to play from bongos to the piano to one I almost got, an Ukulele which being as it is my Gap Year it might be about time I ticked some things of that list while I have the chance.
Music just has that ability to change you mood weather its sad (happy song) or with your mates getting ready for a night out (party music), to up the excitement.
Iv'e got this really bad habit of having to listen to my mp3 before I go to sleep, which isn't great because Kesha isn't doing anything for my wind down time but I do love a good mini party in the dark at 12pm.

Blogtober Day 18: Bargain Beauty Haul

Love beauty products? Love a good bargain? then Euro Giant and Cara Pharmacy is the place to be. Euro Giant is brilliant for well known products at ridiculously cheap prices and today I picked up the Bristows dry shampoo, one because I wanted to try out dry shampoo instead of using my little trick of baby powder when your hair is a few days old and you don't have time to wash it, and two because it smells of coconut and I can just picture the freshness coming up my hair in waves. Also in Euro Giant I picked up an Argan Oil shampoo I recently used (stole) some of my mums and it was AMAZING. Instantly my hair was soft, full of life and glossy this shampoo is truly amazing and there is a whole selection of different Argan Oil products.

Next to Cara Pharmacy and any Irish girl would know my love for this store, there is no way your coming out empty handed. They have the latest products out there and amazing staff who show you the best tips, but the big win win here is the prices. They do your normal beauty lines but also they basically have a sale on everyday of really good quality bits and bobs such as lipsticks, eye shadows and foundations and they are on a couple of euros. Cara Pharmacy is the must-go-to make up shop for any occasion and will always save the day when it comes to beauty products.
