Girl Power Ladies

Recently after spending hours doing my make up I'm not afraid to say I did look good.. gone was the 14 year old tomboyish look and helllloo was the me with a look that I feel comfortable with. Since leaving school as I've said before I have a new found confidence in myself that pushes me to dress the way I like (BoHo/rocker chic style) without first thinking the usual  'oh what will they think' 'I can't go out like this'. 'it's too much'.
The point behind this post is the reaction I got to a selfie I uploaded to Facebook when I had my make up and hair done. I do understand most people haven't seen me with make up before and obviously all the girls were being lovely but its the reaction from lads that has me wanting to make this post.
The look these days is all about perfect figures, glorious white teeth and even perfectly shaped eyebrows.. Yes society is starting to cop-on that not all girls are size 6 and healthy and more and more girls are embracing their natural beauty but there is still a overhanging certain look that girls have to achieve to look 'right'.
I am all for inner beauty and pushing all girls to feel confident in their own skin and be themselves.
So when I started getting messages from lads from school, or ones I haven't talked to in years suddenly showing an interest it made me think 'this is where were at now, girls have to dress up for lads to talk to them and get any sort of a reaction, this is the message they're getting out there, is it any wonder girls don't feel confident without perfect makeup.
I didn't appreciate the sudden 'interest' at all as it was false.. just like the eyelashes I was wearing. Me with makeup isn't the real me, there's a personality behind the number 620 lipstick and okay I can't brand all fellas with the same stick, there is guys out there who look for more than looks in a girl but this reaction has me feeling there is no hope in a future where girls will feel totally happy and confident in themselves. If anything this has made me want to not wear makeup ever again (although we all know I will, but for myself noone else) to prove to guys basically don't judge a book by its cover and don't think just because we look nice doesn't mean you can suddenly come back into our lives and talk to us like you've never left.
Okay I don't want to turn this into a rant and some kind of burning of our bras kind of movement but to any girl reading this I ask you to embrace your inner beauty, we all understand the joys of dealing with boys and their 'mixed messages' but for this one this picture perfectly sums up my feelings...

All dressed up... and nowhere to go

With College over all my old school friends are back home and we decided to head out to a UV Party one night. Now I rushed home from work and literally took two hours getting ready because I fancied getting really dolled up (my first time wearing a crop top, really not sure about it but YOLO right) and went all out. When I finished getting ready obvs it was time to upload a made up selfie to Facebook.. and heres where I learn't the event had been cancelled. After much debating about bothering to go out at all (it was a Thursday night nothing was on) we finally decided to just go for a drink and see what was happening (absolutely nothing literally 8 other people in the bar and never seen town so quiet). Anyway the main point of this post is to share my make up pictures because I am soooo happy at how it turned out. I'm not the most girliest of girls and makeup is something I wouldn't call a skill of mine but through a lot of practice (and much taking it off and redoing it) I managed to look somewhat different (my age for starters, no more being called 13). I learn't that orange tones bring out blue eyes so that was my main focal point and I kind of just went from there...... *insert way to many selfies

Latest Movie Reviews

Pitch Perfect 2

I'll admit I shed a tear when I heard there was a prequel to my absolute favourite film and I basically went into hibernation for three years until finally Pitch Perfect 2 came out.. leaving the cinema after Pitch Perfect I was blown away and to be honest could give any show girl a run for the money, give me a musical any day. However saying all this I hate to admit it but I didn't fell the wow factor with the second movie as I did with the first. Don't get me wrong the songs were great, the performances amazing and constantly thanks to Fat Amy, I was laughing my head off but it kind of felt like something was missing. Also the fact that it was one of those last year in college before everyone goes their separate ways kind of movies it hit me right in the emotions. I guess all in all nothing will ever top the first one and that's just the way its going to be, I guess I'll just have to watch both of them another seven times to make sure. #Acca-out

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
This was an unexpected film to watch one evening I felt like chilling in my jammy's with a big ole bowl of popcorn and I'll be honest I don't quite get the whole thing, I think that has to do with never seeing Lord Of The Rings though. However it was a nice film to watch as the storyline was easy to follow, the whole Shrine (? Shire can't remember what its called) was really great graphics and there was funny moments in it too my the brilliant Irish dwarfs. The title basically gives away the story as the Hobbit ( Bill Bo Baggins) goes on a journey that's well unexpected.. now actually thinking of it I'm pretty sure I fell asleep because I honestly can not remember an ending at all... I will get back to you on this one.

21 and Over

I've been wanting to see this film for a long time because it is right up my ally, three best mates having an unforgettable night. This film had me cracking up constantly at the antics the three got up too and the situations they found themselves in...think The Hangover but with college students. I honestly can't describe this film all I have to say is its a must see for a great laugh and if like me your starting college soon hey heres an insider.
